WHALE FOUND DEAD IN QUEZON BEACH WITH SHARK BITES NEW!

The 16-feet long, 2-ton heavy Longman's Beaked Whale (Indopacetus pacificus) found dead along the beach of Catablingan, General Nakar, Quezon last February 7, 2016 possessed shark bites believed to be by Cookiecutter Sharks (Isistius spp.) according to Dr. Marco M. Espiritu, veterinarian and leader of the BFAR-4A Marine Mammal Response Team.




BFAR-4A IMPLEMENTS 3RD TRANCHE OF GLENDA REHAB PLAN NEW!

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 4A distributed cash incentives to selected fisherfolks of Tagkawayan, Quezon amounting to PhP 96,000.00 as part of the 3rd tranche of its Revised Typhoon Glenda Rehabilitation/Recovery Plan last January 15, 2015 at Tagkawayan Municipal Covered Court, Tagkawayan, Quezon.




BFAR-4A JOINS THE 1ST NATIONAL FISHERIES INDUSTRY SUMMIT AND BANGUS CONGRESS NEW!

The Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources held the 1st National Fisheries Industry Summit and 1st Bangus Congress in Philippine Trade and Training Center, Pasay City last February 3-5, 2015.




FISHERFOLKS IN PEREZ, QUEZON, GET LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT

As part of its commitment to deliver precise interventions and promote growth in the fishery sector, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 4A distributed livelihood assistance and commenced the ground breaking ceremony for the establishment of Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC) last January 8, 2016 at Brgy. Pag-asa, Perez, Quezon.





ORIENTATION AND REPRESENTATION OF FISHERFOLK AT ALL LEVELS


The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office IV-A conducts Orientation and Representation at all levels at last March 10, 2015. All Regional Fisherfolk Representative were present, likewise RD Mimi Manalang, ARD Virginia Bartolome, FARMC Coordinator Ma. Chloe S. Taripe, all Provincial Fishery Offices and Baywide Leaders were also present.





"CALLY" DIES IN CALAUAG, QUEZON; CAUSE OF DEATH BEING DETERMINED


Calauag, Quezon - "Cally", a giant sperm whale which was seen stranded in the coastal waters of Calauag (thus the name "Cally"), Quezon last February 17, 2015, was declared dead by the BFAR 4A Quick Response Team (QRT) on February 18, 2015 at around 5:00 a.m.





WOMEN GROUP, SINAG PAG-ASA GETS A VACUUM PACK SEALER FROM BFAR-4A   


Sinag Pag-asa, a women's association in Shineland Subd., Cabuyao, Laguna received a vacuum pack sealer from BFAR 4A thru the Agency's Tulong Kabuhayan sa Kababaihang Mag-iisda (TKKM) Program on January 23, 2015 in Cabuyao, Laguna.





IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NATIONAL PROGRAM ON MUNICIPAL FISHING VESSELS AND GEARS REGISTRATION (BoatR)   


BFAR in partnership with SMART Communications, Inc. will give one tablet for each Provincial Fishery Office for the implementation of the National Program on Municipal Fishing Vessels and Gears Registration (BoatR).





BFAR 4A LAUNCHES AQUAPONICS PROJECT IN LAS PINAS   


Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Metro Manila - The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 4A (BFAR 4A) has launched its first ever aquaponics project on February 4, 2015 in Las Pinas, Metro Manila.
