BFAR IV-A achieves another milestone when after decades of serving the fisherfolk of the five provinces of CALABARZON with only four provincial fishery offices, the Region has finally established the fifth provincial office which is the Rizal Provincial Fishery Office at Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City, Rizal.
Before the establishment of the office, the Region only had four existing Provincial Fishery Offices (PFO) namely in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon. PFO-Cavite is housed in the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority in Rosario, Cavite and headed by Magdalena M. Samala; PFO-Laguna is housed in the Sub-Regional Office of BFAR IV-A in Bambang, Los Baños, Laguna and headed by Victoria B. Adora; PFO-Batangas is housed in the BFAR IV-A Fisheries Inspection and Quarantine Services Building in Batangas City and headed by Rosario C. BFAR 4A welcomes Fisherfolk Regional Director for May 2012
Mr. Justino F. Dacillo aka “Ka Tino” was chosen as the new Fisherfolk Regional Director (FRD) of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Regional Office No. IV-A (BFAR IV-A) for the month of May 2012. Ka Tino is the IFARMC leader of North Lamon Bay and he was chosen by his peer fisherfolk leaders from CALABARZON and by staff from BFAR IV-A.
Ka Tino will act as the FRD during the celebration of Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month for the whole month of May. The installation of an FRD is part of the Fisherfolk Director Program started on 2005 through DA-SO No.88 which aims for a more strengthened partnership in fisheries management. It also aims to empower fisherfolk while letting them be familiar with the bureaucracy of the Agency. >>read more
